Magic Mondays

The HostGator offices are populated by very diverse and creative individuals.  We have talented artists and musicians and practitioners of virtually every other creative pursuit imaginable.  We’re an interesting bunch, and from time to time our creative interests intersect with our workday. We’ve been periodically posting videos on our YouTube channel of Bobby, one of our front-line support agents, mystifying and astounding his fellow gators with his own brand of up-close magic; Magic Mondays it has come to be known as. Our YouTube channel has lots of videos, from the educational to the entertaining.  Help pass the time this Monday and go check it out, maybe even subscribe in order to get the latest video content from us!  In the meantime, we wanted to share the most recent Magic Monday video with you right here:   Do you have any requests or suggestions for video content we can create to share with you?  Leave us a comment and let us know! More Gator Art

It’s been a little while since we shared some good ol’ gator art with you. We received this drawing from a customer following us having assisted them with a support issue.  They were so pleased with the resolution that they emailed us this one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn image of a gator apparently drinking a cocktail on an island.  Of note are the nice boat there in the background, which likely served the cocktail to the gator, as well as the beautiful sunset that really brings the whole image together.  The artist did not sign their piece of art, so we can only thank them anonymously:   From time to time, as seen in our Office Art series , some of our own staff will get a creative inclination and produce some impressive HostGator-themed art.  One of our support staff created the following shirt, featuring a blinged-out Snappy!   Let’s take a closer look at this shirt, as it truly is a remarkable piece of bedazzle-y craftsmanship: We would love to see any HostGator-themed art that you produce!  If you’re feeling gator-art inspired, please send us your creations at feedback@hostgator.com ATTN: Blog and we can share your art with the world! The New & Improved Snappy

It has been historically noted that Snappy hasn’t always been in the best of shape.  To be fair, eating up the competition can create a caloric surplus, resulting in excessive weight gain.  Also, those long hours sitting in front of a computer can negatively impact one’s physique.  Snappy was once even compared to a blue salamander, which is clearly an insult to a proud gator.  At any rate, Snappy has been in the gym, working on his fitness.  It’s likely that you’ve gotten a glimpse of the new and improved Snappy in recent weeks on this very blog, but let’s revisit Snappy’s look over the years, and touch on some of the highlights. It is a rarely-known fact that Snappy threw out the first pitch at a Houston Astros game a few years ago:   Every now and again, we’d see Snappy roaming around the HostGator offices and rubbing elbows with his colleagues:   Truth be told, Snappy has even been spotted on the roof of the Houston office:   As Snappy began to see more and more pictures of himself, he began to really consider getting into better shape. The HostGator Austin building has a pretty stellar gym, Snappy was seen hitting the treadmill in there more and more. It seems like all that hard work has finally paid off, because this is what Snappy looks like today!   Clearly this is a far more fit gator, ready to take on the world! Snappy has never felt better, and with summer now upon us, Snappy intends to take his fitness to the next level, perhaps even participating in an Ironman triathlon… assuming there’s no Irongator triathlons he can enter. Snappy would also like to get out and about. Maybe you know of some location or function at which Snappy could appear, if so be sure to let us know by emailing feedback@hostgator.com ATTN: Blog Continue reading

The Wounded Warrior Project

With Memorial Day upon us, we wanted to find a way to show some appreciation for our veterans.  The Wounded Warrior Project provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.  HostGator would like to invite you to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project via our causes.com page , where we will match donations up to $5,000 (total). We hope we are able to hit this $5,000 mark in order to give back a small amount to the veterans who have given so much to the rest of us. We appreciate your participation in this effort, and we again thank our veterans who have risked their lives to protect ours. If you experience any difficulty in accessing our donation page, please use this direct link: http://www.causes.com/actions/1753343-hostgator-will-match-your-donation-to-wounded-warrior-project Thank you again for helping us support a great cause. A HostGator Holiday 2012

As the year comes to a close, not only should we all reflect upon the successes and any failures of the year in order to grow from the lessons contained in each, we should also set aside some time to simply celebrate.  Celebration has manifested in multiple forms here at HostGator this year, and we’ve had a lot to celebrate.  It had been a truly great year, full of very positive change and we’re all looking forward to what the new year will bring. We had our annual holiday party recently, but before we get into those pictures I wanted to share with you the tree that was set up in one of our Houston buildings last week: This tree clearly has some atypical decorations.  I mean, that is a jack-o-lantern in there, right?  Let’s start at the top and work our way down: Every tree needs a topper; some sort of symbol or designation that sets the tone for the season and for the tree itself.  Apparently for a HostGator tree, that symbol is Darth Malgus, of “Star Wars: The Old Republic” fame.  It’s starting to look like this tree was decorated by, well, nerds.  There’s the aforementioned jack-o-lantern again.  Also, we see an Ethernet cable and a network switch; further supporting this nerd theory.  And is that a telephone receiver?  Let’s take a further look: Yes, that is indeed a telephone receiver.  We also now see a couple of HostGator lanyards.  No tree would be complete without Snappy, but is that also a more realistic gator there on the left?  Yes, it does appear so.  Below, we’ll find a rubik’s cube and a keyboard: And what nerdy what tree would be complete without a couple of O’Reilly books underneath; always give the gift of learning: Now that you’ve seen this amazing tree, we’ll move right along to the company party.  The Houston party was held at Dave & Busters, a Texas-based restaurant and entertainment complex Continue reading
