Large Volume DDoS Attacks See Exceptional Growth in First Half of 2014: Arbor Networks

Large volume DDoS attacks increased by almost 350 percent from 2013 to the first half of 2014, according to Arbor Networks’ DDoS Attack Trends Q2 2014 report. While average attack size and NTP use decreased compared to Q1, attack duration increased, and Arbor emphasizes that volume was the main theme in DDoS attacks for the first half of the year. NIST Wants Cloud Providers to Adopt Protocols to Aid Forensic Investigators

Cloud providers may soon be asked to adopt protocols to help law enforcement meet the challenges of collecting and analyzing data in the cloud. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) issued a draft report in June titled “NIST Cloud Computing Forensic Science Challenges,” which identifies 65 challenges posed by cloud computing to forensic examiners.
